»YPRES
During the First World War Ieper (Ypres) was severely defended by the troops of the Commonwealth. Nevertheless the town was almost totally destroyed by German fire. The rebuilding of Ypres was finished in 1965 with the reopening of the town hall. Ieper is surrounded by more than 160 graveyards. Tyne Cot Cemetery in Passendale (Passchendaele) is the most visited site. If you come to the Flanders Fields Country, then you have to visit the 'Flanders Fields Museum' in the Ypres Cloth Hall. And every evening at 8 p.m. the Last Post sounds under the Menin Gate in Ypres. In Poperinge, Talbot House is almost the same as in 1918.
