»A SEA OF RECREATION

A vast, blue green sea stretches out in front of you. Salty water drops tingle on your lips. Your hair moves in the wind. The sun is merciless: it beats down on you and burns your shoulders and face. You have an immeasurable feeling of freedom, of infinity. Every wave beats down on your legs and back. It is a paradise for sailers, surfers and watersporters.

If lying around in the sun is not your thing, you can play a game of beach football with some friends. You can run, jump or dive and sweat till you drop. Grains of sand stick to your body with every ball you go for. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to freshen up under one of the beach showers.
But if you are too young for all that, you can stick your shovel deep into the sand, and build a wonderful sand castle that can resist the fiercest storms. If your flag stays up the longest, you are officially the winner. Or you can make gorgeous flowers with chicken wire and crepe paper, so you can be elected the nicest flower shop on the whole beach. The sports service and the tourist information service organise a range of activities for the young and not so young.

If you wish to trade the shifting sand for firm ground under your feet, you can play tennis in the Albert Park or the Potiniere. For those who enjoy a round of golf, the Royal Golf Club is the place to be, one of the oldest and most beautiful clubs in the country. But if you'd rather keep it small, you can go to one of our nice minigolf ranges. You can try your hand at a game of petanque, a type of bowling on traditional gravel pitches. But those who would rather explore the wide environment, can do so on horseback along one of the many bridle paths through woods and dunes. Those who prefer the bicycle, should participate in an organised evening bicycle run through the polders. Nothing is more beautiful than the setting sun as it casts deep yellow light over the corn fields and draws in doing so long shadows onto the quiet polder roads.

The early bird can enjoy a brisk morning walk through a nature reserve. You hear the chirrup of waking birds, you see nature blossom in the first rays of sun. The early sun shines onto a spiderweb covered with morning dew. A fantastic experience for those who are truly fascinated with nature.

These are only a few of the recreational activities out of a wide range. And we still haven't mentioned the swimming pools in De Haan and Wenduine, the subtropical swimming paradise in Sunparcs, all kinds of indoor sports amenities such as bowling, squash, fitness, badminton,... And besides that there are all kinds of sports and tourist events.
So you see, if you want an active holiday, you're in capable hands.
