· Close toilet and bathroom windows when leaving.
· Remove fly screens before going out.
· Close all windows and lock all outside doors firmly with the key.
· If you go out for the night, leave a light on and close the curtains.
· Never leave a window open – even a few inches – to let the cat pass through.
· Remove keys from the inner side of outside doors.
· When going on holiday ask your neighbour to keep an eye on your house, to empty your mailbox or to remove other objects which might show your absence.
· Notes at the front door tell everybody that you are not at home.
· Never hide your key under the doormat or behind a flowerpot.
· Never hang it on a little wire in your letter box.
· Make sure that ladders are safely stored in your garage or garden house.
· Mark all valuable objects.
