»SEA-SWIMMING

The De Haan coastline is 12 km long. About 3 km is under life-guard surveillance (about 50 life-guards). The rescue-team is not the only security service on our beaches. Every year 3 medical assistants are present in the first aid posts. The guarded swimming zones are marked with blue signs symbolically showing that swimming is allowed, albeit between 10.30h and 18.30h. These hours are also marked on the “swimming allowed” sign. The non-swimming areas are indicated by red signs.

IN GUARDED ZONES YOU WILL FIND THE FOLLOWING:
a mirador (= high chair) with a coloured flag.
A sign on the chair shows its meaning:
swimming allowed
swimming allowed but no floating objects
swimming prohibited

Other information, such as tide-tables and water temperature can also be found on the sign.
